Keates Admits Club Is In Freefall And It’s Time To Stand Up And Be Counted

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates last night admitted that the club is in freefall following our pathetic 1-0 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

The Saddlers have now lost SEVEN of our last ten games and currently find ourselves just two points above the drop zone, having played a game more than most.

Keates says the Saddlers will be favourites with most with a very tough fixture list in March which sees the Saddlers face Portsmouth, Sunderland, Doncaster and Barnsley coming up but he believes the Saddlers have got to stop the rot and desperately need a building block to build from.

Speaking to Express And Star Keates said

“We are free-falling & will be considered everybody’s favourites to go down even though we are eighth from bottom and there are seven teams below us”

“Its still in our hands but we need to find something, we need a building block to build on, something to stop the rot”

“It hurts. It’s my hometown club and I’ll get judged on results but all of us, we have to stand up and be counted.”

Social Media went into meltdown last night following the defeat with many calling on Dean Keates to step down as Walsall manager. Since the Second World War only Frank Buckley has a worse win rate as manager (managers who have had 50 games or more).

Think it’s safe to say that this job came too early for Deano but let’s be honest the club is rotten from top to bottom and whoever took charge was always going to suffer the same fate – it just hurts that it’s Keates.

Lets not kid ourselves relegation is now a real possibility and the club need to do something to try and stop the rot.

Us as fans deserve so much more.
