Keates Hints At Lalkovic Trial

Walsall boss has hinted he is willing to give a trial to former winger Milan Lalkovic.

Lalkovic has been without a club since leaving Portsmouth in January following an injury.

Milan needs no introduction to the Saddlers faithful having played for the club on two occasions. Lalkovic very much like another linked player (Ismail) has struggled for consistency away from Walsall.

Lalkovic joined the Saddlers on loan in 2013 and went onto make thirty eight appearances scoring six goals. The Saddlers attempted to sign him permanently at the end of that season but he went onto Mlada Boleslav.

He went onto play for Barnsley but returned permanently to Walsall in 2015 but left at the end of the season having played forty games and scoring seven goals.

Speaking to Express And Star Dean Keates said

“He (Lalkovic) is a name that I have had put to me,”

“He has been without a club since January so I have not been able to have a look at him live and for me, that’s important.”

“When we go through the course of the summer, we could have a discussion and there could be the opportunity to have a look at him in pre-season.”

Lalkovic is marmite with most fans. Some believe he will add quality to the squad but some feel that turning his back on the club is hard to swallow.

The thought of Lalkovic on one wing and Ismail on the other is quite exciting but I’m sure Keates will make the right call.
