Walsall boss Dean Keates has again revealed this morning that he missed out on numerous targets last week as the new football season is just around the corner.

The Saddlers have not made a new signing in over a month and with the squad still looking light manager Dean Keates hasn’t ruled out a move into the loan market.

So far this summer Keates has only been able to add Andy Cook (Tranmere), Josh Ginnelly (Tranmere), Chris Dunn (Wrexham) and Zeli Ismail (Bury) to his squad.

Speaking to Express And Star Keates said

“I’d like to think we’ll add a few bodies this week,”

“A few have not worked as we had hoped. One or two have not fallen our way. But that is part and parcel of the job.“

“There maybe a loan or two added but we’re still keen to add permanent signings.”

Walsall still have Tom Brewitt and Tomas Egert on trial. Egert played the full ninety-minutes during our pre season victory over Cheltenham at the weekend however he did give two penalties away. Brewitt was an unused substitute.

  • how appropriate less than a week away we all of a sudden have missed out on targets ay? so then we have to make do with loans, we are an absolute embarrassment. bonser if you were to offer players a wage that could at least compete with the conference then we wouldn’t miss out on anybody…..I can see now why keates got the job cus he’s yet another yes man….we are guaranteed to go down this season

  • Same old, same old. Dean keates was installed as manager to distract supporters as he has a great past with the fans as a player. Now the novelty has worn off and we have just three days to go and we are short of at least 3 players ,supporters get frustrated as nothing becomes of these false promises. The owner of the club just doesn’t care about the football side of things,he just cares about his pension fund. And the board are just yes men and are there just to flannel fans at meetings.Relegation is an almost certainty unless a miracle happens between now and 5pm on Saturday afternoon.god help the saddlers.
