Keates Still Hopeful Of Signing Unknown Player

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has this weekend stated he is still hopeful of signing an unattached player but says the mystery player is weighing up his options.

Keates is still looking to bolster his squad despite the transfer window closing and despite the Saddlers great start to the season.

The mystery player is currently training with a Championship club but Keates is still hopeful.

Speaking to Express And Star Keates said

“We have the opportunity to bring someone in and I am trying”

“He has had the opportunity to have a look at something in the division above us. It’s just a waiting game at the minute.”

With the Saddlers having adequate cover in midfield and striking positions we would suggest that the player in question is a defender, with the Saddlers having just Jon Guthrie as our only permanent centre back with Jack Fitzwater and Connor Johnson on loan. Keates did hint during the summer that he wanted more experience in the back line and is still yet to add it.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will bring news as soon as we have it.
