Keates Wants To Add One Or Two To Squad Before Thursday

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today confirmed he wants to add “one or two” players to his squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The boss can still add loan signings and unattached players to his squad until the end of August but wants to strengthen his side this week ahead of Saturday’s trip to Scunthorpe.

Walsall captain Adam Chambers limped off with a foot injury and Keates has identified central midfield as an area to strengthen despite the “outstanding” performance from Kinsella in the second half during our 2-1 victory over Plymouth.

Speaking to Express And Star Keates said

“I would like to think that we will add one or two more over the next few days,” Keates said. “The loan window will still be open which is to our advantage.

“We’ve brought in Jack and Kane on loan and we had those deals lined up in case we weren’t able to to make permanent signings. We are grateful to West Brom for that and I think they are loans that will be benefit both clubs.”

“I thought Kins (Kinsella) came on and was outstanding. He’s a fiery little character, I don’t know where he gets that from!”

“He did well Kins. But that is an area where we may look to add.”

There is one player currently out of contract that would do a job for us until Edwards returns from injury and that is Isaiah Osbourne. He spent two seasons with the club although his first stint was plagued by injury. He was released by Forest Green during the summer but with a new lease of life under Keates we think Osbourne would be a perfect fit alongside Dobson.
