Kidding Around…

Crewe manager Steve Davis (not the snooker player!) has today revealed that should there be nothing to play for on the final day against us then he will play his academy side.

Speaking to the official site Davis said ‘There is a possibility that we go into the last game (against Walsall) and there is nothing riding on the game that I could look to name a team made up of home grown players”

“I think it would be a really fitting way to end a fantastic year for the club. We have won promotion and competed in League One. We have reached and won our first cup final in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy and could name our first ever team made up of Academy players. It would be another piece of history and a nice way to finish the year, but we will wait and see.”

To play against a team of academy players will devalue the game itself with 2,000+ Walsall fans making the journey. We are still hoping that results go our way on Saturday and we can head to Crewe with everything to play for.
