Walsall boss Dean Keates has this morning missed out on the Sky Bet League 1 manager of the month award for August despite achieving four wins out of five.

Unsurprisinly Peterborough United boss Steve Evans was given the award after leading the Posh to five wins out of five and topping the League 1 table.

However Keates deserves so much praise for turning around our club so quickly following the shambles and disappointment of last season – plus he’s done it on one of the smallest budgets in the league.

Evans was up against our very own Beechdale Guardiola, Sunderland’s Jack Ross and Portsmouth’s Kenny Jackett. When you look at the budgets at their disposal you realise how good a job Keates has done…oh well Deano we will continue to go under the radar.

The Saddlers head to Barnsley tomorrow knowing a point will continue to cement our place in the top six.
