Load of bull!

Walsall finished with a victory but with a disappointing performance against a poor League Two side. Walsall started with Ince in goal, Weston – Roberts – Hughes – Vincent with Jones and Till on the wing and Mattis and Richards in the centre of the park. Parkin played up front with Nicholls playing off him.

Walsall were diasppointing from start to finish – and chances were at a premium. Till was very disappointing and was took off after just twenty minutes to be replaced by Taundry. The goal came just before half time Walsall had their second corner of the half and Mattis smashed a head against the crossbar – Stephen Roberts followed up to head the ball into the net. Hereford’s new signing Lee Morris should have equalised immediately – one on one with Ince but skewed his shot wide.

Second half Denney replaced Nicholls and the youngster and Rhys Weston were the only players who looked like anything different from a sunday park pitch footballer. Walsall had chances to add a gloss to score but Parkin failed to connect with a Weston cross and then with the goal at his mercy managed to drag a tame half volley wide.

All in all lots of useless possession at the back – not a lot of sweat broken – lots of individual mistakes that went unpunished – clueless in the final third and a severe warning call that the Saddlers will have to improve hundred percent if they are to take anything out of their opening game of the season.
