Gethin Jones – Everton

Jones is an Australian born full back who spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Barnsley. He has also recently been called up to Wales’ senior squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Serbia. Would be an excellent addition to the back-line and would be an excellent replacement for Jason McCarthy. His Championship experience might however mean that Everton are looking for clubs higher up the pyramid to loan him to.

Callum Cooke – Middlesbrough

Cooke is another who impressed during the second half of last season, as he helped steer Crewe Alexandra from a potential relegation battle into the safety of mid-table. The midfielder ensured Crewe recorded 8 wins from their final 17 games and has been tipped to stake a claim in the Boro first team. Cooke would be a welcome addition to the midfield area, and would provide some much needed creativity alongside Erhun Oztumer. It’s unknown how much of an impact the Bryan Morris saga has had on our relationship with Middlesbrough, but Cooke would certainly be a solid signing.

George Dobson – West Ham

Dobson is a familiar face having spent the whole of 2016/17 on loan at The Banks’s and Jon Whitney has made no secret of his intention to bring Dobson back on loan. After a shaky first half to the season, Dobson grew in stature during his limited opportunities and produced some eye-catching performances during a disappointing end of season for the Saddlers. This is a lot more likely than Jason McCarthy returning to the club and I wouldn’t be surprised if Dobson is one of Whitney’s first additions this summer.

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy – Aston Villa

Now, we didn’t have the best of luck with our loanee, Kevin Toner, from the Villans last season but Hepburn-Murphy could potentially help inject some life into our otherwise blunt strikeforce. Having recently signed a new contract at Villa Park, and with Villa likely to continue their spending, League One could be the perfect platform for him to showcase his talents. Again it’s unclear how much the Toner situation has effected the relationship between the two clubs, but Hepburn-Murphy would be an excellent signing.

Let us know of any other loan targets which should be on Jon Whitney’s radar…
