Looking forward..to Yeovil

Following our first win of the year on Friday we have ten games remaining seven of which are at home. The first of these is the visit of Yeovil Town on Tuesday night.

Yeovil come into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth. In this game they went very much for a traditional 4-4-2

Recent form has been patchy to say the least. Having won only one game in there last ten. That win comming at Chesterfield thanks mainly to a Aaron Davies hat trick. This has very much papered over the cracks in a post Xmas dip that has matched our own.The main problem has been the lack of goals. A factor in this has been the ankle injury to Phil Jeavons. Jeavons is close to returning to the first team return the fans require. Rated 50/50 for the Bournemouth game he is a possible inclusion in Tuesdays team.
Defence has been relying on skipper Terry Skiverton who was rumoured to be following Darren Way to Swansea. Skiverton has also provided a goal threat from set plays.
Midfield saw returning player Kevin Amankwaah play wide, although he has also be used as a wing back. Chris Cohen (on loan from West Ham) has turned in some MOTM peformances, been instrumental in there draw with Swindon recently.
It is up front where the problems lye, Davies and Harrold are first choice since Jeavons has been injured and there own Argentina striker has returned home following the termination of his contract. These wages are to be used to fund a new striker, but we don’t know if he will be in place for Tuesday, Yeovil have reported they have approach 20 strikers with no success to date.

Other noteable injured players, are keeper Chris Weale and the centre half Colin Miles who suffered the wrath of the saddlers following his lack of contact with Darren Wrack following the tackle which broken the wingers leg at Huish park earlier in the season.

That game ended in a 2-1 defeat for the saddlers although Walsall gained revenge in a 2-0 FA Cup victory at Bescot. Due to their Fa Cup giant killing exploits Yeovil don’t have a bad record against Walsall.This game has turned into a must win for both clubs so a tight nervous game is expected. For the first time in a month we will have the expectation of the Bescot faithful demanding 3 points, How we react to this kind of pressure will mould the remainder of our season. Yeovil as the away team will have no such pressure. The out come may well depend upon which faultering attack can produce the goods on the night.

However this game will not answer the relegation question win or lose, there will be many a twist and turn before May.
