Striker Jon Macken is training with the Saddlers this week, as Hutchings looks for new fowards to join the squad.

The 32 year old is currently a free agent, after being released from Barnsley last season

Macken started his career at Manchester United before moving to Preston North End where he became a club hero. He joined Manchester City in 2002, scoring the winner in the FA Cup final in 2003/2004 season. He then spent time at Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town (loan,) Derby County and finally Barnsley, where he was released.

Alex Nicholls has said he is pleased about the addition to the squad, telling BBC West Midlands: ‘It’s nice to be playing with players like Jon Macken, who’s with us for training this week…he’s a big name in football and he’s been sold for a lot of money in his career.’
