Major Blow-Canerio injured

I must admit after seeing the Saddlers second string against Albion in mid-week play with Claudio absent, I was the first think he may have been on a plane back to Portugal. But the veteran striker was still in the Midlands and in routine training session had an accident, coming off worse from a collison with a teammate.

Canerio is likely to be out for up to two months and though he’s so far been sluggish, Money will have wanted further chances for the long-haired striker to find his feet and repay the faith shown in him.

Canerio was unlikely to figure anyway in the weekend squad anyway especially after international clearance has been given for striker Junior, who was immense on Tuesday night. The former Benfica player is like a good Tony Bedeau, neat on the ball and seemingly has a love for the hustle and bustle of the English game.

Troy Denney is also pushing for a first-team place.
