Walsall boss Dean Smith has hinted that on loan midfielder George Evans could stay at the club a little while longer.

Evans was man of the match and scored on his debut in Tuesday’s 2-0 win at Barnsley and Smith is already looking at the option of extending his deal.

Speaking to Express and Star, Smith said;
“It`s an initial month and we`ll see where we are at the end of it,”

“George is a player who has fitted in really well’

“With the injury to Sam Mantom it was a position we needed to strengthen.’

“We have got Adam Chambers, who has been more restricted to a defensive midfield role this season but has excelled.’

Walsall are short on numbers in central midfield following the injuries to Sam Mantom and Isaiah Osbourne plus the out of sorts Reece Flanagan will hopefully force Smith to extend Evans loan deal until January.
