AFC Telford United 0 – 0 Walsall (team line up was not released due to the club wanting the keep trialists identities under wraps)

The saddlers began their Pre-season with a stalemate in what was more of a fitness test for both sides more than a majorly contested tie.

First 20 minutes there wasn’t much to speak about with both sides knocking the ball about well, with little creativity from either side until a penalty shout when number 11 (Febian Brandy from the looks of it) ran through, and was tripped just inside the box but any chance of a spotkick was waved away.

The latter parts of the first half were dominated by Telford but with only one real chance when ex Saddler Steve Jones had a cross deflected clear by Butler just past the far right post.

(Half Time 0-0)

The sadders made 11 changes for the second half and though there were still little in the way of chances created from either side the saddlers looked sharper and quicker, also defending well when they had to; with a first look at Holden, who did well.

After about 60 minutes Paterson had to come off, after only 15 mins on the pitch and looked to be holding his thigh.

Not much to say about the second half either, not much in the way of glimpses of goal apart from a few corners for walsall one headed just over by Dean Holden, and a half volley just over Jimmy Walker’s bar by a Telford Trialist.

All in all good fitness tester and good night out for the 216 Saddlers who made the effort.

Attendance: 652 (216 saddlers)

Grof – Did what he had to do when required.

Butler – Looked fitter than this time last year, solid.

Holden – Looked solid when needed

Chambers – Did well looked creative considering he has been injured and had little football last season.

Trialist – (Rumoured to be James Chambers) Did well dealt with everything at the back and attacked well.

Flo – Looked sharp/creative

Grigg – Looked weak didnt do much to be honest, get him out.

Bowerman – Creative and dangerous

Trialist believed to be Febian Brandy – Looked sharp and creative.

Hemmings – As above!

Wacka – Slim!! :O

Number 10 – decent

Sammons – Did what he had to do.

Paterson – Went off injured nothing much to say.

Jones – Did well, looked comfortable.
