Saddlers went into Christmas with a point at lowly Rochdale but it was another game to forget for the 171!travelling faithful that had to endure the cold, poor football and just being in Rochdale.

Whitney made four changes from the side which lost to Northampton, three were enforced due to injuries to Flo Cuvelier, birth of James Wilsons child and suspension for Amadou Bakayoko. In came Joe Edwards, Kory Roberts and Daniel Agyei. Also Nicky Devlin started his first game since his birthday, in place of Liam Kinsella.

It was a lacklustre first half with no side really testing the opposition keeper however a cross come shot from Camps was as good as it got in the first half which cannoned off the stranded Mark Gillespies crossbar.

The second half didn’t offer too much and game seemed to be heading for a stalemate however the Saddlers lost possession from a corner at the other end of the field and a mistake from Luke Leahy let Andrew get past him before firing a bobbling shot past the stranded defence.

The Saddlers grabbed a point right at the death as Oztumer pulled the ball back for substitute Maz Kouhyar whose shot was deflected past the Rochdale keeper. It was the first senior goal Kouhyar had scored.

We now enter the Christmas break with Bristol Rovers and Rotherham coming to the Banks’s over the next few days before our long trip to Plymouth on New Years Day (Football League Fixture computer had a mare!)

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and here’s hoping the next twelve months will offer more than the previous twelve.
