Well that win was needed!

Saddlers grabbed our first win at home in six attempts as we moved up to 15th in League 1 and stretched the gap from the relegation zone to four points.

With Edwards ruled out with a slight knock, Whitney showed attacking intent with just playing one defensive midfielder and opting for Ismail, Oztumer and Morris behind Tyler Roberts and Amadou Bakayoko.

However when Liam Roberts dropped a scuffed cross into the path of former Walsall striker Jordi Hiwula and he punished the mistake to put the visitors in front.

It took just four minutes for the Saddlers to equalise. Luke Leahy cross found Oztumer in the box and he fired in from eight yards.

The Saddlers were in front on the stroke of half time following a training ground routine. Erhun Oztumer found Zeli Ismail on the edge of the box who rifled past a wall of defenders into the net.

After sixty minutes the atmosphere turned toxic following Fleetwoods equaliser and Whitney making a bizarre substitution with the influential Zeli Ismail making way for Reece Flanagan but all that was forgotten as Tyler Roberts curled in a cross come shot which went into the top corner.

Reece Flanagan then played a superb ball through to Daniel Agyei who rifled past Cairns and put the game out of sight.

We now travel to Wimbledon on Saturday.
