Mixed Emotions: cup exit, but top

Oh dear, oh deary me. Two things: what did Hereford United Football Club think they were doing, and how come every time we play in a cup competition at Bescot, we lose, whether it is Bolton or Macclesfield? Starting with the weekend, the Herefordshire Police, well, I can`t say too much. I did not go to the match myself, but I have heard so many stories over the complete farce that was two turnstiles, nearly 2,000 people, and wrong information about kick off times. Anyway, what did it matter? We got the three points with a solid 1-0 win. And it`s all thanks to the FA. “What,” I hear you think, but it is the truth. ‘Westie` would not have been able to have played if it hadn`t have been for Pead`s red card, therefore he would not have scored. You see, it is all crystal now. And it`s all good because there is now a six point gap between ourselves and the ever-faltering Lincoln City, who could only manage a 3-1 home defeat to Darlington. Let`s just hope Dickie is on the money (had to use it) when it comes to the title race in the next few months.

Now for some rare negativity – we are pathetic in cup competitions! What will it take for the Blazing Saddlers to have a decent cup run, excuse the pun, but we need more money. Last night, we were missing Wracky, but that hasn`t stopped us in the past. Maybe next year, as they say. It all seemed to be going well, shot-after-shot-after-shot, but nothing was going in. This surely shows that there is need for another striker to come in on-loan before the loan deadline tomorrow.

Finally, that brings me onto my final point with an issue, which in my opinion, needs to be addressed. Hector Sam – like him or loath him, he has not been in bad form recently, even though there have been no more goals from him for what seems like a millennium. Despite every Landlord having a personal vendetta against me in the North West, I was able to see the two decent Walsall chances from the FA cup tie last week, and I have to say he looks to be at match fitness. And about time too. However, is he still good enough to hold a starting berth down for the rest of the season? Email me your thoughts at saddler_13@hotmail.co.uk.
