Dean Smith says that he is upset and frustrated of events in yesterday’s 2-0 defeat to MK Dons, but also proud of the Saddler performance.

It has become a habit that Walsall fare better in times of adversity and yesterday was no different. Lee Beevers’ gallant attempt in goal, as well as resolve from the outfield players, prevented a humiliation after Jimmy Walker was shown a red card on 33 minutes.

Smith told the official site: ‘I feel disappointed, frustrated but immensley proud of my lads’ performance in the second half…(we)deserved at least a goal to show for our efforts.’

The raging boss was sent to the stands at half time by referee David Phillips, but he added that did not take away from his pride.

‘I watched the second half with pride up in the stand and hopefully that display can galvanise us.’ He concluded.

Let’s hope Walsall can learn from their performance and battle on in League One, starting away to Huddersfield next Saturday.

Up The Saddlers!
