Walsall have signed former Blues striker Tommy Mooney on a free transfer.
The 35-year-old moves from Wycombe, after he rejected the offer of a new contract.
Mooney had skippered Wanderers to the League Cup semi-final against Chelsea last season, also scoring 29 goals in 87 appearances for the club, over two years.
DD told the official site that he was delighted to capture someone of Mooney’s quality.
However, questions will be raised over the age of the player, who becomes the Saddlers third summer signing who is thirty-something.
DD has told the official site that experienced heads are needed this season, especially with a young squad.
He said: “Just like Danny Sonner and Paul Hall, Tommy has a major contribution to make both on and off-the-field.”
DD also said to expect more players to enter the doors at the Banks’s.
He added: “I still want to add to the strike force and our attempts to strengthen the squad will continue.”
