Newly Promoted Referee To Officiate Saturday’s Game With Scunthorpe

|

This Saturday will see newly relegated sides Walsall and Scunthorpe go head to head at the Banks’s Stadium.

Both the Saddlers and the Iron were relegated from League 1 last term and have both found the drop into League 2 difficult so far with both sides currently occupying positions within the bottom five.

Marc Edwards is the official for this weekends fixture and has only just joined the EFL as a referee following last season in the National League.

He has yet to officiate a game involving Walsall or Scunthorpe.

Last season, he took charge twenty-one National League matches and one FA Cup match, showing seventy-two yellow cards and one red.

So far this season, in the five matches he has refereed, he has shown eleven yellow cards and no reds.

Edwards will be assisted by Billy Smallwood and Kevin Morris whilst Christopher Husband will be the fourth official.

A successive victory for Darrell Clarke’s men will see the Saddlers start to climb the League 2 table.
