Alex Nicholls is on a mission for next season to go on a goal scoring spree.

The striker, who last week signed a two year contract at Walsall, told the Express and Star that he wants to reward manager Hutchings’s faith in him with plenty of goals in the coming season.

He admits himself that, on occasion, he did not take his chances he should have, which was reflected in being replaced by Byfield towards the end of last season.

He said to the paper: “After training, I stayed behind and practiced finishing last season, so it`s at least something you can work on. It`s not something I can`t change, it`s in my hands. I feel I`m a good professional and I can work on it.

Nicholls is also looking to rekindle the partnership with Troy Deeney that he has enjoyed over his seasons as a Saddler.

He added: ‘Troy works hard and we do well when we play together up front. We`ve played together for many years in the reserves..we have always had a good relationship off the pitch and we click on it.”

With only 5 goals last season, it is not hard to see where Nicholls is coming from. A striker is there to score goals. And plenty of them. Nicholls shows good talent and Saddler fans will wait in anticipation that his ambitions will come to fruition.
