Northern Saddler

I heard something yesterday, which really did make me smile. It was so funny, I thought that the person was joking, but he was serious. I couldn`t believe it. I just could not stop laughing at what they had said, it was unbelievable. It was an absolute pearler and one I still have to slightly titter at right now. I just can`t believe he said it. As soon as he had said that he could score goals from midfield, I really did erupt with laughter. Yes, I refer to what Michael Dobson has said this week about wanting to score more goals than Dean Keates did last season (laughter). I mean, yes it`s nice to have some career goals – that`s great. But come on! In the words of John McEnroe, you cannot be serious? Don`t get me wrong, Dobson is a good player and a great skipper who led the team well last season, but he expects to be able to break forward more because of Danny Sonner`s arrival in the midfield. Yeah right! I will believe it when I see it (laughs once again). I could be wrong of course; it wouldn`t be the first time.

Anyway, I won`t be at the game on Saturday to see the lads take on Blues, but I imagine that it will be an interesting spectacle. It may be around 4-1 to Blues, but at least it will be a stern test for Money`s men, who hopefully will have a win from tonight`s match against Halesowen to boost their confidence, especially in front of goal. It remains to be seen what the team will be for Saturday, as it will give us an indication of who may start in the curtain raiser against Carlisle at the Banks`s on August 11. With the signings that have been made, along with the squad numbers being allocated, you can only see Weston at right back, with Scott Dann and Anthony Gerrard in central defence, and Danny Fox at left back. Then Hall on the right, Wrack on the left, with the attacking-minded-my-backside Dobson and Sonner in midfield, with Carneiro and Mooney up-front? Who knows? Will just have to wait for the paper on Monday evening I suppose.
