As a Saddlers fan, I`m not that worried about what lies ahead this season, but I am slightly concerned. Why? Lack of goals. So far, Walsall have scored one goal in three games, which even though it`s early days, it is nevertheless a worrying sign. Tommy Mooney cannot score all the goals this season and with the departure of last season`s top scorer Dean Keates, I am not too optimistic for the future. There needs to be a striker that steps up and scores the goals and it should be Carlos Carneiro. He seems to be the only Walsall striker getting the chances and it could be costly if he doesn`t find his feet soon. He is very talented player and one that will be a success at the club, but time is running out for settling in. He needs to adjust to English football quickly if he is going to be a success.

I would like to round-off this week by expressing my sadness and condolences to the loss of a Walsall youngster this week. Anton Reid, 16, was about to start the season as an apprentice in the Walsall youth team, only for tragedy to strike on Monday. A minute`s silence will be held at Saturday`s game with Swansea as a mark of respect.
