Saddlers were on the brink of their 1st win in EIGHT games on Saturday when they frustratingly conceded in the dying minutes to share the spoils with Chesterfield.

Chesterfield went into the match rock bottom of the league having lost four of their last four games in League 1.

Alex Nicholls put the Saddlers 1-0 ahead on 29 minutes and they managed to keep a hold of the game throughout, but not enough to wrap the game up.

American Anton Peterlin fed the ball to Nicholls as Saddlers found their feet and put them in front.

The second half saw the Saddlers grinding their opposition down, who were determined to scupper their fellow relegation battlers plans’ of a must need win.

The travelling fans were just about breathing a (cold) sigh of relief when 4 minutes were added to full time. With the gift of time and hope, Jack Lester scored for the hometeam on 90 minutes and condemned the Saddlers to just a draw.

Jimmy Walker spilled a save and the Spireite saw an opportunity and made no mistake.

Damn.

Saddlers did JUST enough to keep the score at 1-0 but not enough to score 1 or 2 more to make the game comfortable. Saddlers have had a poor run this season with conceding goals after taking the lead. This is potentially the downfall of their season so far, but i’m not sure how this will be remedied. Come On Deano!

Ho, Hum onwards to Sheffield Wednesday at home on Boxing Day and as it stands, Walsall lie in 21st position, 1 point from survival, as we enter the crucial winter period of the season.

See you their on Monday??

Up The Saddlers!
