Commanding centre half Eoghan O’Connell has been speaking to the Official Walsall FC website about his experience since joining on loan from Scottish giants, Celtic.

O’Connell, who has yet to taste defeat in his five games for the Saddlers, praised both the standard of opposition and the resilience of the Walsall squad.

“The standard has been good and it has been great to test myself against different styles; Sheffield United were dominant on the ball, while Millwall and Northampton were more direct.”We`ve had good results which is the main thing and everyone has put in a good effort, so I`m really happy with how it`s going.”

The defender, who is also extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet, has been a part of three home wins and two away draws since joining, and he’s been impressed with the Saddlers’ recent ability to come back from behind.

“On Saturday we were 1-0 down – it was our third game in a week – and it would have been easy for our heads to go down and make excuses,” he added.

“But we dug it out and got back in the game, which is testament to the character of the group and the performances we`re putting in at the moment.’

The Saddlers travel to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, looking to make it 6 unbeaten and record a first away win since Boxing Day.
