Walsall boss Sean O’Driscoll today admitted that every game from now until the end of the season needs to be approached differently as no side will roll over and die.
The Saddlers drew 0-0 with Scunthorpe last night to see their winless run stretch to five games – our worst run of the season to date. The Saddlers still remain four points behind Wigan but a further eight points behind leaders Burton.
O’Driscoll said ‘It was a game where we tried to do the right things throughout the 90 minutes, but it probably didn’t quite come off for us,’ said the former Liverpool coach.
‘Nobody’s head went though. They are an honest bunch of players and I think they showed that tonight.
‘Everybody has got to hold their nerve a little bit. We’re in a position where nobody is going to come to the Bescot and roll over. Everybody is fighting for something, whether it’s promotion, the play-offs or to stay in the division – which is why English football is so exciting.
‘We’ve got to be up for the challenge and if things don’t go the way you want them to, there’s no excuse for not doing the right things.
