Sources close to Vital Walsall have told us that Sean O’Driscoll will be named the new manager of Walsall FC within the coming days with current caretaker boss John Whitney becoming his assistant manager.

O’Driscoll has continued to be the fans favourite for the position throughout our caretaker period and many see him as the man to continue to good work carried out by Dean Smith.

O’Driscoll loves his teams to play the possession game and has often bloodied through many impressive youngsters. His roles with England and Liverpool more recently indicate how highly though of he is within football.

At 58 is this is swansong? Here’s hoping it ends with Walsall FC back in the Championship.
