It has been confirmed today that Deeney has finally left the Banks’s and joined Championship side Watford for a fee of £500,000.

It would have been hard for the Saddler’s to turn down Watford’s fifth and final bid, following weeks of media speculation and Deeney handing in a transfer request on Tuesday.

Deeney was unhappy with the club at their handling of the four previous bids which they turned down, as well as Hutching’s dismay that Deeney chose to speak to the media and not to him of his ambitions to leave.

The striker could make his Hornets debut as early as tonight, in Watford’s championship opener against Norwich.

It is sad to see such a key member of the team go, but every footballer aims to go as high in the game as they can, and Deeney surely showed his colours while a Saddler. We wish him luck!
