Walsall assistant Richard O’Kelly praised his side following their 3-0 win over Wigan yesterday.

O’Kelly said ‘It was a good team performance,’ ‘We were very well-organised, especially in the first half, and our understanding of when and where to pass the ball was excellent.’

‘We won a lot of second balls and were able to build the play, which was pleasing to see.

‘I was pleased with our goals and, credit to Wigan, even when they were reduced to ten men, their young side kept trying to do the right things.’

‘Overall I would say it was a pleasing performance and a deserved victory.’

The victory took Walsall up to third, behind Wigan and Port Vale. The Saddlers will struggle to catch either side despite having a few games in hand over the Latics.
