Simon Osborn has said he is in a catch 22 position as he struggles with a hamstring injury that brought his good early season start to a halt. He admits that he would love to face his former club Gillingham but doesn’t want to make his injury worse.

The 33 year old, who has missed the last two games for the Saddlers, is however stepping up his training routine in an attempt to be fit.

He told the official site ‘With it being Gillingham, of course I’d love to play. But with a hamstring injury, you can’t rush your recovery. I’ve done bits and pieces and it’s coming on a lot quicker than I thought it would so I’ll keep plugging away and see how I am come Saturday.’

He says of his former club: ‘Gillingham aren’t on a great run at this moment in time and after losing to Burscough in the FA Cup, I’m sure they’ll be fired up for Saturday. It’ll be far from easy so whoever’s playing on Saturday will have to work hard and be competitive from start to finish.’
