The Express and Star are reporting that outgoing management duo Dean Smith and Richard O’Kelly recommended Sean O’Driscoll as the man to replace them and he is currently in talks with the Walsall board.
O’Driscoll who is a very good friend of Richard O’Kelly is seen as the man to continue the work carried out by Smith however despite talks – the deal is still a distance from being completed.
It is thought that the talks between Walsall and O’Driscoll is to discuss how much the board will back the proposed new boss in our aim for a return to the Championship.
O’Driscoll is also keen to replicate the same style of play as emulated by Smith and O’Kelly,
It is understood that John Whitney, John Ward and Neil Cutler will remain in charge of our League 1 match with Port Vale despite the prospect of O’Driscoll being confirmed as boss this week.
