Oxford Are In A False Position – Says Walsall Boss And Defender

|

They say the league table never lies but it does in the case of Oxford United according to Walsall defender Jon Guthrie and manager Dean Keates.

Oxford currently sit twenty-third in the League 1 table and another defeat for the U’s tomorrow will heap more pressure on Karl Robinson.

However Guthrie has today said they Oxford wont be there at the end of the season.

Speaking to Express and Star, Guthrie said

“If you looked at Oxford’s squad before the season got under way – you’d expect them to be at the other end of the table,”

“I’m sure they will get get going as some point but we have to make sure we aren’t the team that kick-starts a run for them.”

Walsall boss Dean Keates also backed the statement stating Oxford are a very good side and are in a false position

“I wouldn’t look at the league table regarding them at all.”

“I think, when you look at the league table, their position is a little bit false.”

The Saddlers will be hoping to inflict more pain on Oxford tomorrow as we look to get back to winning ways following three games without a win – however the Saddlers still sit inside the League 1 play-offs heading into tomorrows game.
