Pablo Mills the story so far..

As one of the more impressive loan players last season, Pablo ended the season with an uncertain future. Many saddlers fans hoped that a long term deal could be struck. Especially with his performances at the centre of defence, where he impressed more so than his holding midfield role.

It has come to light that Walsall are still interested in his signiture, although so are other clubs including MK Dons who also had Pablo on loan earlier in the season.

His agent has stated in the press that the next move was down to his home club Derby. Both Pablo and his agent Gino Culbertson expect a deal to be offered by Derby. However Derby don’t wish to do a deal until a new manager is in place, giving them until friday to sort things out, otherwise Pablo becomes a free agent.

Yesterday another turn saw Pablo included in the list of players to be released from Derby. The ball is in the players court. It will be seen if a deal can be struck. If we really want the player and he really wants to play for Walsall something may happen sooner than later. However I would expect the agent to advise Pablo to wait and see what offers come along, since I am sure Pablo could perform at a higher level than league two.

We have a number of advantages though, our location is ideal for the Birmingham born player and he knows the club and has already spoken to Richard Money. Rivals MK Dons may well have more financial power especially if the bidding war for Izale McLeod provides a fat cheque in the summer, but at the moment they have no manager. So until that is resolved Pablo must be uncertain of how much he is actually wanted.

Time will tell
Another piece of news sees loan player Grant Smith also made available by Bristol City, they want a fee but rumours have it that a deal could be struck if it means no further cost to the Bristol club. Would he want to come to League two and would he fit into Richard Moneys plans….now thats another question.
