We at Vital Walsall tweeted directly to Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony this afternoon to get his views on Tom Bradshaw but more importantly his market value with Preston North Ends bid of £400,000 rejected yesterday.
We compared Connor Washingtons goal scoring record to that of Tom Bradshaws given that Peterborough sold Washington for a reported £2.5m to QPR.
MacAnthony suggested that £2m would be excellent business by Walsall and admitted he tried to sign Tom Bradshaw from Shrewsbury when Craig Mackail-Smith left Peterborough for Brighton in 2011.
MacAnthony tweeted –
Tough one CW (Conor Washington) plays fifty plus games per annum and is a little more rapid and had eighteen months left on his contract. £2m would be superb result’
He continued –
true story, I tried to buy TB (Tom Bradshaw) when he was eighteen as potential replacement for when we sold CMS (Craig Mackail-Smith) to Brighton. Great player’
So whilst MacAnthony is only suggesting £2m would be superb business by Walsall FC, it does beg the question at the valuation we should be hanging over Tom’s head.
If a League 1 chairman is suggesting £2m, then anything less than £1.5m with add ons would be catastrophic business for a player with a bright future.
