Players face pay cut

It appears that players on exsisting contracts at Bescot have a clause concerning relegation. Players will now be facing upto a 20% pay cut due to relegation.

Whilst this must hurt it is good to see more prudent administration. That 20% reduction in the wage bill on exsisting players will provide fexibility within the club. It will remain to be seen if the saving will be used to offset the loss of revenue caused by relegation or whether it will be reinvested in the playing staff.

Hopefully it will also act as a motivation to those players who have contracts that run until next year, promotion would mean an automatic 20% wage increase since the wage levels are directly alined with what divison we are playing in.
