Saddlers return home following our point at Gillngham hoping to continue our fine home form which has seen us win our last three games at the Bescot, although we are facing top of the league!

Vital Quotes:

Liam Roberts ‘”They are top of the league but it`s a game of football we have to go and enjoy,” he continued.

“We want to upset them and we`re going to play with a smile on our face.

“They have got a great squad but I believe in our squad.

“We don`t fear them, we are looking forward to the challenge of testing ourselves against them.”

Mowbray ‘”It`s interesting when you play a team in a quite short period after the first one and of course it`s away as opposed to being at home but it shouldn`t affect too much of how we play.

“We`ll have to go there and be really positive, we need the points, as they will be fighting for them.

“They had a good 4-2 win over Doncaster at home so they will be feeling good about themselves.’

Walsall Team News:

Unless something catastrophic happens in training today, Jon Whitney will have a full strength squad to choose from apart from Arsenal loanee Krystian Bielik who has turned into Houdini and hasnt been seen since he joined on loan in January.

Player to watch: Liam Roberts

Roberts signed a new deal this week to keep him here until 2020. Roberts was outstanding at Blackburn earlier this season and kept the scoreline respectable. He will be our number 1 for years to come you would imagine.

Blackburn Team News:

Marcus Antonsson could be named in the starting line-up, after coming off the bench against Bury, but Craig Conway remains a doubt. Elsewhere, midfielder Ben Gladwin has trained again and may also be in contention. This weekend’s game is expected to come too soon for Peter Whittingham, while Harry Chapman is closing in on a return.

Player to watch: Danny Graham

He always scores against us! and he made sure that form continued as he struck twice in our defeat at Blackburn earlier this season. Grahams goals have fired Blackburn to the summit of League 1 and it will be a testing afternoon for Fitzwater and Guthrie.

Match Facts & Stats

Blackburn are currently fourth in the form table having gained twelve points from their last six games.

The Saddlers have won their last three home games scoring seven goals and conceding three.

The teams have only faced each other sixteen times in our history, with the Saddlers winning just twice. Those wins came in 1973 – if anyone can remember it!

Blackburn have won six and drawn two of the last eight games between both sides.

Ref Watch:

Referee: Ross Joyce
Assistant Refs: Matthew Jones and Alix Pashley
Fourth Official: Joe Hull

Match Day referee Joyce has officiated thirty two games in 2017/18, showing one hundred and twenty yellow cards and one red card already.

Match Prediction:

Many will expect a Blackburn win tomorrow but its these type of games (with 2,800 Blackburn fans in attendance) that we step up and cause an upset as such.
