Rallying Call – Lets All Pull In Same Direction

|

Tomorrow we face Oxford United in a MUST WIN game.

Failure to beat Oxford tomorrow and the fat lady will start to clear her throat ready for our relegation to League 2.

Should we fail to win tomorrow then the gap to Scunthorpe, Accrington and Wycombe could be two results apart. With only five games left after tomorrow it will seem nigh on impossible to get those results. Should we fail to win tomorrow then it will be a case of looking at other teams results and hoping we can stay close enough heading into Accrington the week after.

Here is the table heading into this weekends fixtures…

Walsall boss Dean Keates has called on the fans to make noise and back the side tomorrow – just like you have done all season.

The criticism and negativity can be put on the back burner and the inquest into what has happened this season can begin once its mathematically certain whether we are in League 1 or League 2.

Speaking to Express And Star Keates said

“The fans’ support, more than ever, is going to be needed over the next six games,”

“We need them for Oxford. The Barnsley atmosphere in the last game was unbelievable. They helped the team get on the front.”

“Last year it came down to that Northampton game and the volume from the fans was unbelievable.”

Keates also confirmed he is a man under pressure given the Saddlers lowly league position and our current results but his sole aim is on Oxford tomorrow and will look forwards afterwards.

“I don’t want to be in charge of a football club that is down there”

“I came in last season and the objective was to stay up”

“The aim this season was to get us in a positive position and we are not in a positive position at the moment so there is pressure on that”

After tomorrows game with Oxford our remaining fixtures are Accrington (a), Southend (h), Wycombe (a), Peterborough (h), Shrewsbury (a) – strap yourselves in lads and lasses because in true Walsall fashion this one is going right down to the wire.
