Ready for the off!

Walsall we be looking to continue their excellent openings to new seasons. In the last eleven years they have only lost one of their opening encounters a 2.0 defeat at home against Ipswich in 2002. Well Brighton seem an average League One side but Walsall will have to keep on eye on their new two signings Mark Wright and Liam Dickinson. Walsall won this fixture last season famously one nil despite only having nine men for the majority of the match – that was the highlight of the season for Jimmy Mullen who was soon on his bike afterewards.

Vital Quotes:

‘Everyone wants to a get a good start but not everyone can, it’s as simple as that no matter where you play, whatever league, whatever country.’

‘We are going down there to do a job, with all due respect we want to come to these places, get a result and get home.’

Brighton Hove Albion Team News:

Kuipers in goal – back four of Whing – Virgo – Elphick and new siging Josh Wright. Midfield of former Saddler Mark Wright – Crofts – Navarro and Thornhill. Two places up front to be taken by any of the following four strikers Liam Dickinson – Glenn Murray – Dean Cox and veteran Nicky Forster.

Player to watch: Mark Wright

Mark Wright – not sure why he was released by MK Dons as his last two years with the club have been nothing short of stunning. I’m sure if he hadn’t have already signed papers at the Hove he would have been re-signed by Paul Ince just like Jemal Johnson.

Walsall Team News:

Walsall to go also with a four four two. Ince in goal – back four of Weston, Smith, Hughes and Vincent – midfield of Nicholls, Mattis, Richards and Till with Denney and Sam Parkin.

Player to watch: Troy Denney

Not much choice from what i’ve seen so far – homegrown talent is the only promisng aspect of the team – so Nicholls or Denney.
