Relegation run in Update

Well, in truth very little we have one game less, we are a point off saftey with five of our seven games at home. KB says we need more fire in our Bellies, whilst Chris Westwood wants more belief. So whats the situation like.

Well Bradford and Bristol City both reached the magic 52 point mark at the weekend so can consider themselves safe and can have a stress free last six games.

Tranmere,Chesterfield and Scunthorpe historically would be safe on 51 points this season however that maybe touch and go.In truth it would take a major blow up by one of these teams for them to go down. Tranmere and Scunthorpe are still picking up points. Chesterfield however are bottom of the current form league and five games without a win are the ones lacking confidence, but games against some of the struggling sides should see them hold on.

Gillingham three games back I really thought the Gills were on theren way out of league one, unexpected wins at home to Swansea, Brentford and MK Dons has put them on the brink of saftey. Home games against Huddersfield,Bradford, and Walsall together with trips to Southend, Yeovil and last day trip to Blackpool, should hold no fear, they will get the win to keep them up. Just goes to show that anything can happen.

Port Vale another club which realistically should be safe on 48 points. Games against strugling Walsall(a)and Bournmouth (h), nothing to play for Bradford (a), can’t win Chesterfield (h) and last day drama at Hartlepool softerns the prospect of playing Swansea next.

Bournemouth a last gasp equaliser against Southend gives them 47 points and they can smell saftey. Away at Scunthorpe won’t be easy, but then comes the game they will probably consider as the match to win to stay up, Walsall at Bescot. Following this three difficult home games against,Huddersfield, Colchester and Brentford might not bring much success, away games at Port Vale and Forest doesn’t suggest any easy wins.

Blackpool 47 points played 40 They won’t get another three points as easy as saturday. Southend (a), Swansea(h), Brentford(a)and Barnsley (h) means the nerves might just still be on edge come the last two games against should be safe Scunthorpe(a) and Gillingham(h)

Yeovil 46 points played 40 Far from safe after the derby defeat at the hands of Bristol City. Like our selves it will be there home form that makes or breaks the season.Next up is Doncaster and Scunthorpe both at home,then Forest(a),Gillingham (h),Huddersfield(a)Colchester(h). Those next two games may well shape there future.

Hartlepool Played 39 points 44 A home draw on Friday against Oldham moved them out of the bottom four,setting up a real 6 pointer against Swindon at the County ground on saturday.Then it is really a mixed bag of a run in which could go either way. Colchester (a) seems tough,especially if confidence is low following saturday.Bristol City(h) and then MKDons(a) brings more hope of points. Then a nervous time against Forest(h) and Brentford(a). Ending up at home with a winnerable home game at against (should be) already safe Port Vale. It could go down to the wire for Pool

Rotherham played 40 points 43 Pulled themselves round when the focus was on off field events. That lack of pressure has now been removed and the team is under pressure to achieve. On saturday it was all too much as three first half goals sent them crashing to a 3-1 defeat at rivals Doncaster. Home form again is key,Tranmere and Brentford been the next visitors to Millmoor.Swansea away looks tough before they return to Millmoor to play Scunthorpe which is winnerable game, Colchester away is followed by what could be a must win game at home to MK Dons.

Walsall played 39 points 43Not a bad looking run in with five from the last seven at home, it just that performances and current form makes the task look like mission impossible, unless we hit form like gillingham did. Three home games on the trot will go along way to either taking pressure off or making it unbearable. Bristol City,Bournemouth and local rivals Port Vale visiting Bescot.Then the last four pan out as Doncaster (a),Huddersfield(h)Gillingham(a) and play off hopefuls Bransley (H). Too tight to call.

Swindon played 39 points 42 Didn’t play at the weekend due to Swanseas cup exploits.They face two must win home games against Hartlepool and MK Dons, I wonder about the logic of putting a rearranged tough trip to Swansea in between. Following this the run in doesn’t look hopeful unless they hit Gillingham type form. Scunthorpe (a), Brentford(h),Derby against Bristol City(a) and Huddersfield at home on the last day
A real great escape needed.

MK Dons played 39 point 37 Only team with less points than games played and looking doomed. Playing at Port Vale midweek gives them hope, they must win to put pressure on the teams just above, lose and the fat lady might just be getting ready to sing.Trips to Oldham and Swindon follow. Followed by Hartlepool (h) and Chesterfield (a) Tranmere (h) and the final clash at Rotherham. Must win at least two more games than anyone else to stay up

Conclusion
I know nothing is set in stone just look at Gillingham after there Mauling at Bristol. But MK Dons and Swindon are looking gone then for me perm any two from Blackpool, Rotherham, Hartlepool and Walsall. That fight could go to the last day if it does I would say Walsall to go, plus one other
