It was a case of trial and error at West Holmes Community Stadium, where defensive mistakes cost the Saddlers a point.

Us striker Kevin Lisbie brock the deadlock when the ball deflected off him from ex-Saddler Clive Platts’s shot on 26 minutes.

Within a minute, Darren Byfield used his pace to burst through the Colchester defence to blast the ball into the roof of the net.

The Saddlers threatened, with Mark Bradley placing a header wide after a Peter Till’s cross.

In the second half, Lisbie and on-loan striker Josh Payne gave Mark Hughes and Manny Smith the run-around, with Lisbie having a goal ruled out for a foul on Clayton Ince.

On 61 minutes, Josh Payne was fouled by skipper Mark Hughes in the penalty area, which was scored by Lisbie to give the Us all three points.
