Richard Jackson and Walsall

Richard Jackson is a player who has interested Walsall and DD last season. In fact he was lined up for a loan signing until a knee injury ruled him out of our promotion run in. Despite playing in 98 games in the Championship for Derby, Richard wants first team football and has agreed terms to have his contract terminated in an effort to get his career back on track.

The question is would Walsall still be interested. The ability of the player is without doubt, so the question is much more about resources. Whilst Richard has played at centre half he also plays at full back and could provide valuble cover and competition. Whilst in the centre of defence the Alan Picken injury saga continues and Roper hasn’t hit top form in pre season yet, of course despite him recently signing a three year contract at Walsall Scott Dann is a player in demand, so how long can we keep hold of him.

So if the price was right, perhaps we will just have to watch this space.
