Russell Martin Signs For MK Dons

|

Former Walsall defender Russell Martin has wasted no time finding a new club, signing for MK Dons on a one year deal.

Martin who officially left the Saddlers on Saturday has joined MK Dons who are flying in League 2 and a side who will probably pay him a bigger wage that the Saddlers.

Martin left the Saddlers due to “personal reasons” stating it was taking its toll on his family with the commute up to Walsall – Milton Keynes is only one hour closer to his family home in Brighton!

Martin received criticism from a section of the Walsall fans for his poor displays. The Saddlers conceded more goals since his arrival.

Martin played for Peterborough, Norwich and Rangers before linking up with his friend Dean Keates at Walsall but it has not had the reaction we all expected.

Martin was seen as a leader and a captain having steered both Peterborough and Norwich to promotion. However, his stint at Walsall was nothing short of dismal.

We wish Russell the best of luck for the future.
