Saddlers face hostile reception

Press around the Blackpool area are talking saturdays game up into a relegation decider. Whilst the importance of the game cannot be denied saturdays result will settle nothing. Although a win for either side will give a tremendous boost to confidence and the survival prospects of the relevant club.

Reports in tonights evening mail quote’s the blackpool papers, Brian Halford writes…
‘WALSALL can expect a raucous reception at Blackpool on Saturday with the home side billing the match as their most important since their play-offs final of 2000.’

They certainly have had a quiet time if this is there biggest game since then. Some of the Blackpool web sites are also hyping the game up. With comments on relegation, one site says
‘So that leaves the Seasiders who now have an awful run in and I honestly believe that anything other than a win against Walsall could seal our fate. Even then I just haven’t seen enough signs in the side to make me think that we’ll be able to grind out results and get a two goal cushion in a game that would give us the confidence to push on for victory. And so the four to go down are MK Dons, Swindon, Hartlepool and ……(blackpool or Walsall)*

So the message is clear we are going to be out numbered in terms of fans but the saddlers can be tops in terms of noise and backing. I remember playing against them when they needed a win for promotion…we won 2-1, the fans were tremendous, we need the same this time around.

SO BE LOUD AND PROUD TO BACK THE SADDLERS

Another site has called on supporters to make the game a tribute to ‘Jolly Ollies Barmy Army’, in memory of Oliver Hewitt known as Jolysaddler who passed away recently. I can’t think of a more fitting response.
