Saddlers Get Back To Winning Ways But Make Lives Difficult For Themselves

|

The Saddlers finally got back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

It should have been a lot easier however the Saddlers conceded a last minute penalty to put fear into the home fans that we may just balls up the lead – in typical Walsall fashion.

Goals from Andy Cook, Isaiah Osbourne and an own goal gave the Saddlers victory but a bizarre own goal from Luke Leahy and a dubious penalty against George Dobson gave the away side hope.

There were other chances in the game and the Saddlers were fortunate not to be behind in the first half as Craig Mackail-Smith and Paris Cowan-Hall missed good chances.

They led against the run of play as Connor Ronan’s teasing free-kick was headed home by Cook, and Isaiah Osbourne slotted home after Ryan Allsop had saved from Kane Wilson.

Saddlers gave debut to former Norwich and Rangers captain Russell Martin who was vocal throughout.

That was the Saddlers first home win in the league since August and now the Saddlers have two more home league games before we go on our travels once more.
