Saddlers Legends

Kenny Mower was as loyal a servant as Walsall have had and had many great games on the left side of the Saddlers defence.

There were some (and i apologise if you aren’t one of them!) who never liked Mower primarily because of his life away from the pitch. But personally I don’t care about that, and it was what Mower did on the pitch that mattered.

During his long Saddlers career Mower helped us to two promotions scoring his first goal on the day that promotion was clinched in 1980.

He also played a big part in our memorable Milk Cup run of 1984 and another promotion in 1988.

Although he only ever scored eight goals for us, lets face it, he was a left-back and he was always far more comfortable defending the goal than attacking!

When he left Walsall in 1991 he moved for a short spells at Stafford Rangers and Blakenall.

When he retired from football Mower stayed local and still has many friends and family in and around Walsall. He is also a regular visitor to the Bank’s Stadium.

If you have any memories of Kenny Mower let us know on our forum.
