WALSALL 0-0 BURY (Bury win 5-4 on pens)

Firstly, I would like to say one thing…BBC, we are not ‘League One strugglers’….not yet anyway!

A lack of goals cost us in what could have been our only chance to win a trophy this season.

I wish I could say there were clear-cut chances, but there was not. I wish I could say there was light at the end of the tunnel, but again this appears to be a longshot.

As far as shots on goal are concerned, only a volley from new signing Clayton McDonald came close to troubling the Bury backline.

Gradually, it was Bury who finished the first half on top, causing Rene Gilmartin to make a smart save to deny a 25-yard free kick.

If it wasn’t for the final ball, Bury would’ve been out of sight after half time, but it was still turning slowly into one of those nights.

The came the shootout, as Super Sammy Parkin missed the decisive penalty to send the Saddlers flying out of the competition.

I wish I could say things are going to improve, but somehow I highly doubt it! One win in seven games and one goal in the league do suggest that the BBC maybe have predicted our season.
