NORWICH 0-0 WALSALL (L1)

It was a day filled with hope, hope for goals and change. The signing of Darren Byfield has had a mixed reaction from the press and fans alike, but he put in a decent performance to suggest that a fully-fit Byfield will get goals this season.

However, the hope quickly faded with the reality of another day, another 0-0 – still at least it was a third clean-sheet in a row.

Therefore, the only thing to report on the match is a disallowed Norwich goal, which gave the Saddlers hope and a dazzling run from the impressive Byfield saw a hopeful effort spin out for a throw-in on the far side.

Manny Smith and Clayton McDonald were like a brick wall at the back, especially Smith who put in a fantastic classic Ian Roper like performance.

It was a deserved point, but with more oust up top, maybe it could’ve been more?
