Saddlers sign Swindon ace

I don’t think Swindon fans will call him an ace otherwise they wouldn’t have released him (perhaps they can let us know what they think). However Sofiene Zaaboub looked a good player against us last season. I know that a couple of good performances doesn’t make a good player but I have little else to base an opinion on.

Sofiene Zaaboub played wide against us but can also cover at full back as well as midfield. He passed his medical late last night and signed a one year deal.

He is 25 years old and started off in his native France with Montereau and St Etienne making 20 first team appearances before moving to Italy with Juventus and Modena then having spells in Spain and Belgium

Following this he moved to Swindon in 2006, following a trial period he signed an 18 month contract in November and celebrated with his only goal in what was eventually 60 odd appearances.

Jimmy Mullen of coursed heaped praise on the new boy saying he is the right aged at 25 and has a good pedigree. Interestingly he also said he would be a valuble squad member, this could indicate that Zaaboub hasn’t been brought in as an automatic first choice.
