Saddlers Suffer Heavy Defeat Against Southend – Watch The Goals Here

|

The Saddlers suffered our second away defeat in three days as we were thumped 3-0 by Southend.

The Shrimpers broke the deadlock in the twenty-third minute when Taylor Moore headed former Saddler Sam Mantom’s right-wing corner against the crossbar and Bunn was on hand to tap it in. The Saddlers defence was flat footed as the ball dropped for Bunn.

The Saddlers had our chances with Ginnelly glancing header going wide, Ginnelly making Oxley tip the ball over the bar and then Leahy and Guthrie not slotting home from yards out. It was another one of those evenings.

The Shrimpers – who lost both Harry Lennon and Tom Hopper to injuries in the first half – doubled their lead in the seventy-sixth minute, with Timothee Dieng left unmarked as he headed in another Mantom corner.

The Shrimpers wrapped things up eight minutes from time as Bunn’s low shot from the left deflected in off the Saddlers’ Jack Fitzwater. It was not the Saddlers evening.

The defeat saw the Saddlers drop to twelfth in the League 1 table – our lowest position of the season so far.
