Saddlers Throw Away Two Goal Lead Against Ten Men Sunderland

|

The Saddlers made it one league win in our last seven as we managed to throw away a two goal lead against ten men Sunderland.

Before the game most would have taken a point against the high flying black cats but on reflection many feel that is two points dropped.

Goals from McGeady and Gooch were enough to send the 3,248 Sunderland fans home feeling relieved and keeps their unbeaten run going.

The Saddlers stormed into a two goal lead thanks to goals from Josh Gordon and a worldie by Josh Ginnelly but it was same old same old as the Saddlers failed to make their chances count and a few lapses in concentration helped Sunderland back into it.

Andy Cook scored a perfect goal which was wrongly disallowed for offside and George Dobson somehow lost his balance and managed to hit the most from five yards out – on another day both would have counted and we would have been out of sight. However it’s a case of what ifs again.

Special mention to Liam Kinsella who was outstanding. Joe Edwards and Adam Chambers will struggle to regain their place.

We still sit eleventh in the table – a position we would have snatched anyone’s hands off in August. Here’s hoping for revenge over Sunderland next weekend so we can progress in the FA Cup.
